Satire post #1
1. Read the article from The Onion.
Think about how the author takes an everyday situation (for some) and turns it into satire.
2. Write your own piece of satire (A News Article) based on something in your life. It could be school, home, sports, etc.
Be sure to consider the 4 Techniques of Satire.
3. Using your RSS reader, read the articles posted by your peers and leave a comment.
Example:
Collingwood Student in Perfect Uniform, Shunned
A student who cannot be named in order to protect her identity, found herself shunned by her classmates when she arrived on time to her English 9 Pre AP class with her uniform in correct order. Her cohort chuckled at her tucked in shirt and appropriate skirt length. Her gray knee socks pulled up to her knees seem to be the final straw.
The snickering behind her back progressed to all out hostility when she refused to wear her outdoor jacket in class. The students decided to start a petition to ban such inappropriate correct use of the uniform as it made the rest of them look so bad.
